Here at CK International, we are always looking at new and innovative ways of doing things. Problem solving is actually something we enjoy! And there was something that always bugged us...
Well, one of the biggest features of a CK baler (Twin Ram right through to Vertical Balers) is the bale density performance. With a huge variance in materials being processed by CK machines, it is always quite difficult to give an accurate finished bale density, at quotation stage. We often provide performance guarantees but we decided to introduce some science to the task!
Along came Andrew Smyth, one of our past placement students. Andrew has now designed AND built a machine that tests the finished bale density - of any given material. We are now receiving and testing samples of client material and can calculate how our machines will perform. The new test machine can test up to 200T of equivalent press force. Andrew has designed the complete machine including: mechanical, hydraulic and electrical control system - whilst incorporating 3D printing and programming. What about that for a final year Uni project?! Needless to say we are looking forward to Andrew coming back into the business this summer. Well done! Please get in touch if you would like some materials tested through the machine. We'll be happy to provide a material analysis and potential bale density results.
